Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African affairs congratulates Syrian people for regaining full control of strategic Qusayr by Syrian army.
“Some parties that are supporting terrorists and supplying them with weapons are responsible for slaughter of Syrian people and destroying their land,” he said in an interview with Iranian Fars news agency on Wednesday.
Syria’s state TV reported today that southwest city of Qusayr on the border with Lebanon, which has been under siege for more than two weeks, is now in hands of government forces.
“Our heroic armed forces have returned security and stability to all of the town of Qusayr,” a statement carried by the station said on Wednesday.
Armed terrorist also confirmed they had pulled out of Qusayr.
According to Lebanese Almayadin satellite channel, Syrian army conducted an over night raid against terrorists.
During last two weeks, Syrian army was fighting against the terrorist in border city of Qusayr with support of Lebanese Hezbollah forces.
One Hezbollah fighter told the Reuters news agency that they took the town in a rapid overnight offensive, allowing some of the fighters to flee.
“We did a sudden surprise attack in the early hours and entered the town. They escaped,” he said.
Recapturing of Qusayr means retaining control of important province of Homs and cutting the weapon supplying route of terrorist through Syria- Lebanon border.
