{"id":1760,"date":"2017-07-11T13:10:57","date_gmt":"2017-07-11T08:40:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.iransview.com\/?p=1760"},"modified":"2017-07-11T13:49:11","modified_gmt":"2017-07-11T09:19:11","slug":"isis-confirms-death-of-group-leader-abu-bakr-al-baghdadi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iransview.com\/isis-confirms-death-of-group-leader-abu-bakr-al-baghdadi\/1760\/","title":{"rendered":"ISIS Confirms Death of Group Leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">ISIS terrorist\u00a0group confirmed the group leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi is dead, Iraq&#8217;s Al Sumaria TV channel reports.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">According to Al Sumaria TV \u00a0ISIS announced the death of its leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi in a very brief statement on Tuesday.\u00a0The statement explains the new successor of Baghdadi would be declared &#8220;very soon&#8221; and urged its militants to continue &#8220;stability in the strongholds&#8221;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">Last month Iran\u2019s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) has confirmed that Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the \u201cIslamic State\u201d (IS, ISIS, ISIL, Daesh) terrorist group, has been killed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">\u201cThe death of this terrorist [Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi] is certain,\u201d said Ali Shirazi, a representative of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei at the IRGC\u2019s elite Quds Force.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">The Russian military also said in June that it may have killed Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi in an airstrike in Syria in late May.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 12pt;\">The Quds Force, which is an elite overseas operations arm of the IRGC, has reportedly been involved in the fight against ISIS in Syria and Iraq since the terrorist group began war against Baghdad and Damascus.
